Athletics Tanzania Federation

Athletics Tanzania (AT) is the National Governing body responsible for Track and Field, Road Races and Cross Countries. It is affiliated with National Sports Council of Tanzania (NSC) and World Athletics (WA) which is the international governing body of Athletics.

OBJECTIVES OF AT

AT, is responsible for all aspects of athletics in the Country by promoting, developing and strengthening athletics in Tanzania. One of the key objectives of AT is to ensure that the sport puts Tanzania in its rightful place in the world stage. Some of its key responsibilities and activities includes:-

Plan, and set up a robust all inclusive athletics development model/program in the country, from grass roots stage through to the high performance stage.
Create work plans for Regional, Zonal, National and International competitions for athletes i.e. National Athletics Championship, Eastern Africa Regional Track & Field meets, All African Junior and Senior Championships, the Commonwealth Games, World Championships and the Olympics.
To oversee the recruitment, training, certification, deployment and control of athletics officials and coaches required to carry out the programs and activities of this sport.
Provide appropriate administrative structure and support services for the effective functioning of the federation and the sport in general.
Maintain good relation with government, sporting bodies, corporate sponsors and other organizations with an interest in the sport of athletics.
Maintain good relations with local and international media in order to ensure positive promotion of athletics and the activities of the federation.

One of the key objectives of Athletics Tanzania is to see our athletes improve their overall on the field performances, especially in the international arena. In order to achieve this objective, Athletics Tanzania (AT) has decided to seek sponsors, with a keen interest in the sport, to partner with them in the journey that will develop athletes and optimize their potential abilities. The National Athletics Championship is a platform for unearthing talent that will be groomed and prepared to become high performance athletes who would represent the country in major international events such as:- the All African Athletics Championships 2014, Commonwealth Games 2014 and the Olympic Games of 2016.
